Notice and Invitation to Attend Public Meeting
The Northeast Dairy Compact Commission’s Committee on
Regulations and Rulemaking is continuing its review and analysis of the
Commission’s responsibility under section 9(f) of the Northeast Interstate
Dairy Compact to ensure that the Compact milk price regulation does not create
an incentive to produce additional supplies of milk. The Committee is holding a
public meeting in Concord, New Hampshire at the Centennial Inn (Armenia White
Room), 96 Pleasant Street from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23,
2000. The Committee invites all
interested persons to attend.
The Committee will be specifically discussing the
following issues:
1)
The
supply of milk in New England since the inception of the Compact price
regulation;
2)
The
Compact producer payments since July 1997; and
3)
The
Commission’s experience with the required payments to the Commodity Credit
Corporation based on rate of increased milk production in New England.
The Committee is seeking additional information from
meeting participants on these or other related topics. Those unable to attend the public meeting
may submit comments in writing by February 25, 2000 to Northeast Dairy Compact
Commission, 34 Barre Street, Suite 2, Montpelier, Vermont 05602 or by facsimile
to (802) 229-2028.
